Public Health In A Nuclear Or Radiological Terrorist Incident

It's Sunday afternoon.  You could be watching something boring like football...but you have options!

Here's an exciting  (NOT!) video by the U.S. Centers For Disease Control intended for an audience of public health professionals who might be involved in a nuclear or radiological terrorist incident.

It's just over an hour, but you can skip the first 6:50 and the last 5 minutes or so (unless you want to go through all course credit and other extraneous info).  I'll basically break it down:

About 6:50-22:00

Good overview of basic radiation safety.  Great computer graphics.

About 22:00-about 36:00

Good description of a radiological dispersal device and the radiological incident in Goiania, Brazil. The role of the CDC is described as well as some details on the U.S. National Response Plan.

About 36:00 -about 50:00

Roles of local/State/Federal governments. Protection action guides and personal protective measures.

About 50:00- about 56:00

Q&A
