Caldicott - A Beacon Of Nonsense From N. Europe

She was on Red Ice Radio which calls itself a beacon of reason, but obviously it isn't.  I've criticized her before, particularly here.   The first 8 minutes deal with her nuclear weapons activism, but then she starts discussing Chernobyl and the phoney NYAS book and exaggerated deaths, I discussed in the previous link. Then she exaggerates the Fukushima deaths to 2.5-3 million people!

She has special insight (ie, makes stuff up) about Fukushima worker deaths and what doctors are not doing regarding kid's thyroid tumors.  She says the nuclear industry is spending millions of dollars on huge media campaigns.  Did the industry tell her that?  How does she know?  In my anecdotal experience, the most frequent people in the media are her and anti-nuclear liar Arnie Gundersen.

At 14:30 she repeats the #4 spent fuel myth I covered in the earlier.  She fear mongers about Japanese food.  Now imagine that some people in Japan heard her and committed suicide because of depression and fear.  Should she be held liable?

At 20:00 she acknowledges that she understands risk vs. benefit for medical usage of radiation, but is utterly unable to understand the same sort of thing for nuclear power.  How will we combat global warming and other air pollutants (risk) if renewables are not yet capable of meeting power needs?  What are the risks of not having enough reasonably priced power?

She makes up reasons why the Japanese accepted nuclear power, including bribes, but provides no evidence of her claims.

Essentially everything and everywhere is "extremely radioactive"...once she gets going, she can't help herself and the host doesn't probe for details.

At around 33:00, the host informs Caldicott of the Busby lie regarding high level waste canisters at Finland's Forsmark and explosions.

I can agree with her that most politicians are scientifically illiterate.  Most people are scientifically illiterate.

She thinks you can put solar panels on your house and run all of the modern appliances as care-free as you do with a nuclear plant.  You can't.

At about 38:00 they go back to nuclear weapons and she leads listeners to think that each nuclear power plant is a bomb factory, which is complete bull.  At that point I had had enough.
