Pager-Sized Gamma Spec Dosimeter

Here's a new video by Tom (the computer scientist who likes health physics better, and who can blame him?) describing a pager size, gamma spectroscopy/dosimeter.  If you're not into health physics, just pass on it.  But if you're into it, this product is pretty cool!  That didn't have toys like that when I was growing up.

And it's not just the product, he does a good job of going into various aspects of health physics.  If you're a little light on gamma spectroscopy, you might want to read this first.  He mentions the Compton edge, which is the escape of some of the photons from the detector after they've deposited some of their energy within it.
