Frankly I would leave the champagne in the fridge for now, pending replication. Author Svensmark is one of the 'usual suspects' pushing this hypothesis, and has been wrong before.
And any major climatic impact of a mechanism like this is pretty much ruled out by the Laschamp event of 41000 years ago.
